Planned Parenthood and the Left: An Inconvenient Truth

The recent Planned Parenthood undercover videos have provided a venue for a discussion that the leftist media does not want to have:  The horror of abortion.  The videos brought to our living room the truth about abortion.  Is abortion “a woman’s right to choose”? or “women’s health”?  The inescapable videos bring the truth about abortion in front of our eyes.  The killing, by dismemberment, of a human being.  There are people who do not want to see these images.  Why not?  They do not want to admit an inconvenient truth:  Abortion kills a human being in the most brutal way, by dismemberment, limb by limb.   We are horrified by the beheadings by the ISIS killers in the Middle East.   Abortion does the same thing and we call it “women’s health.”  Who are the barbarians?

Leftist politicians, such as Nancy Pelosi, say that the videos are doctored?  doctored?  have they watched any of them in full?  probably not. Click here to hear Ms. Pelosi verify this statement.  So, let me see if I understand this, you have not watched the videos but you think they’re doctored? Do you have any proof of this?  No.  On September 27, 2015, NBC’s “Meet the Press” host, Chuck Todd had Carly Fiorina on.  He thought he would catch her in a misstatement about her comment about Planned Parenthood in the last debate.  You could see he was salivating.  Carly humiliated him in her sharp, clear and concise response.  This is one for the ages.  Click here to see it.

As I was driving today, I saw a person with a bumper sticker on her car saying:  “I’m Catholic, I vote.”  Now this is a very naive person.  The truth of the matter is that Catholics are no different from the general population when it comes to voting on moral issues.  Democrats would never win an election if all Catholics voted according to church teaching, such as the sanctity of life and the importance of traditional marriage,    The sad fact is that liberal Catholics are no different from liberal atheists. Catholics, like liberal Christians and Jews, have substituted leftism as their number one religion; traditional religion is always secondary. Human Trafficking: Today’s Slavery

When did slavery end?  No, it was not with Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.  Slavery is alive and well today.  You may think that if it’s alive it’s in Africa or some other third world country, as I did, until I heard a talk at our church about human trafficking in Los Angeles.  Human trafficking is happening right in your back yard, except you’ve never seen it.

How does human trafficking work?  Two examples:  A young girl runs away from home; within a few days she will be approached by a human trafficker and groomed.  She will be told that the person talking to her cares for her and that he will take care of her.  With time she will learn to trust this person as her boyfriend who has her interest at heart.  Once she commits to this fellow, he drops the hammer.  He’ll tell her that they can make a huge amount of money in the sex business.  He assures her that he loves her and that sex with others for money is not that bad and it really validates their relationship.  If she objects he will turn to intimidation. He will tell her that if she refuses he will hurt her and her family.   The human trafficking pimps are so good at what they do that they manage to take complete control of the girls by threats of physical and psychological intimidation.  At a recent church human trafficking workshop, an LAPD Lieutenant who is the head the Human Trafficking Division told this story of a young girl they interviewed:  This young girl told her story about how she got enmeshed in this.  The police were able to arrest the pimp and prepare a criminal case against him.  When they went to court the girl refused to testify against the pimp for fear of reprisal.

A second way young girls get involved goes something like this:  A beautiful young woman is working at a department store.  A well dressed gorgeous woman approaches her and tells her that she knows a job she can get her that will pay her way more than she can make at the store.  She tells the young woman that she can pick her up after her shift and take her to her office where she will lay out her case.  The young woman agrees.  At the end of her shift she picks her up in a brand new Mercedes-Benz.  The young lady is now very impressed,  She takes her to her office where she meets this hunk of a young man who just sweeps her off her feet.  This young man then grooms her until she is in.  He then tells her what her real job will be:  sex for money.  If she objects, the threat will come.  Threats of violence both to her and her family.

Here are some facts about human trafficking:

1.  There are an estimated 27 million slaves in the world today, that’s the highest number in history

2  Human trafficking has been identified as the second largest criminal enterprise in the world, second only to drug trafficking.

3.  The United States is one of the top three destination points for human trafficking, with California, Nevada, New York, and Texas as the top states.

4.  According to estimates, 80% of trafficking involves sexual exploitation and 19% labor exploitation.

5.  The average age for of a young woman in human trafficking is now 12 years old.  Click here for more information.

An important point made by the LAPD Lieutenant mentioned earlier:  Victims of human trafficking are NOT prostitutes.  They are victims.  A 12-year old girl does not volunteer to be a sex slave.

Has This House Become a Den of Robbers?

“Social Justice” is often used in religious circles, as a call to action.  Of course no one ever defines what they mean by the term.  Is there a difference between justice and “social justice”?  if so, how?  It is universally understood that “social justice” refers to a more left-wing interpretation of what Jesus taught, that is, to take care of the vulnerable, the weak, and the poor.  Those who promote “social justice,” more than likely, have an economic interpretation of the term, more akin to, say, income inequality.  The Bible is filled with many calls for justice; it does not qualify the term with an adjective.  In Micah 6:6-8 it states this: “O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”  In Isaiah 1:11-17 it states:  “Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean, remove the evil of your doings from before my eyes, cease to do evil learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.”

What has this to do with abortion or pro-life?  Plenty.  What does it mean to do justice?  Do we do justice when we kill the unborn and call it “women’s health”?  Are we doing justice when we declare what is just only by what we feel is true and right, rather than what morality, truth and justice say is true?  Do we set ourselves up as our own god when we make these choices?  Again, the Bible here is informative.  In Jeremiah 7:1-15, the Lord says it this way:  “If you truly act justly one with another, if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan and the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, then I will dwell with you in this place.”

In our culture, abortion is legal up to birth.  In recent time, Dr. Kermit Gosnell, an abortion doctor in Philadelphia was convicted of murder, not for doing abortions but killing the newborn after delivery.  Here is why he was convicted:  “Jury finds Philadelphia abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell guilty of three counts of first-degree murder for the death of three babies that prosecutors said were delivered alive and subsequently killed. NBC News’ Chris Clackum reports.” This is how is was reported by NBC News.  Click here to read the story.  So it was plain to see that Dr. Gosnell was only convicted because he actually killed a baby after it came out of the womb. Had he killed the baby before extraction he would not have been convicted.  Now you can argue when life begins, but you cannot argue that a baby is not a human being until it comes out of the womb.  To do so, as many do, is intellectually dishonest and plain foolishness.  Are we doing justice when we kill unborn babies?  Are we doing “social justice” when we kill unborn babies?

Jeremiah 7:1-15 has this stern, but unmistakable warning:  “Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal ….and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, “we are safe!” only to go on doing these abomonations?  Has this house become a den of robbers?”  Verse 15 continues: “And I will cast you out of my sight, just as I cast out all your kinfolk, all the offspring of Ephraim.”

Selective Outrage: the Dignity of Life and the Political Left

The recent Ferguson, Missouri riots confirm one stark fact:  The political left is outraged only when it fits their political agenda, such as when a black person is killed by a white person without regard to self-defense, or the facts.  Was the political left outraged when two Sacramento California police officers were killed by an illegal alien who had been deported three times?  Two men who gave their lives to protect the rest of us and no one is outraged like the Ferguson mob is outraged.  Were these two police officers’ lives less valuable than a street thug in Ferguson?  Why do I call him a thug?  He had just robbed a market, shoved the owner who confronted him and then walked down the middle of a street like he owned it.  What else do you call such a person?

When I refer to the political left, I’m referring to people like Al Sharpton, the main stream media such as MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Occupy Wall Street, the universities, Hollywood and other misfits.  Ferguson is a case in point.  A young thug attacks a police officer and proceeds to attempt to kill him; he is shot dead after being ordered to stop and the political left is outraged.  According to the political left, the white police officer is to blame for killing someone who was trying to kill him; well, I suppose that the police officer should have let this thug kill him, if you follow their logic.  Where is the outrage when over 500 black people are shot to death each year in the city of Chicago alone?  Did Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson come and protest these killings?  According to the political left, it’s an outrage when a white person kills a black person but not an outrage when blacks kill other blacks.  Is this not a holocaust and mindless loss of human life? it is simply to support their political agenda which states that America is racist and police are out to kill black people.  They are not interested in facts, only their agenda.  These are scary people.

Who gravitates to riots, such as in Ferguson?  I can’t prove it, but I suspect that many are anarchists, criminals, street thugs looking for a reason to cause chaos and damage to please their twisted minds, not people who are protesting the loss of a human life.

A Case for Political Activism Regarding Abortion on Demand

We often hear from liberal Christians that their religious beliefs should not interfere with their political ideology such as the question of abortion, religious freedom, contraception and the like.  Famous politicians such as Vice President Joe Biden will tell you that “he believes” what his church, the Roman Catholic Church, teaches but he is not going to let this interfere with his political positions on this issue.  Listen to Joe Biden and Paul Ryan describe their views on abortion during the 2012 Vice Presidential debate.  So, if we are to believe Joe Biden, his religious beliefs and his political beliefs are two separate and different beliefs.  This is totally illogical and pure nonsense.  Our religious beliefs guide our actions in what we do in private and in public.  If you believe Joe Biden then you would, for instance, say that although you’re against rape, you would not vote for a law against rape for political reasons.  If you follow the logic of your stance then this would have to also follow.

From the late 1800s to around World War II, the United States was very pro-Eugenics, a philosophy which promotes selective breeding of humans to improve desired characteristics.  No less than 31 U.S. states had Eugenics laws in the first half of the 20th century.  These laws allowed the government to sterilize a woman, many times without her knowledge.  In 1927 there was a famous Supreme Court case of Buck vs. Bell, in which the Supreme Court ruled that a woman could be sterilized by force in accordance with the Eugenics laws.  Many American scientists and prominent citizens,  such as President Woodrow Wilson and Ralph Waldo Emerson, supported these laws.  In 2009 I wrote a short history in this blog about Eugenics in America.  Click here to view it.  This is a history you did not learn in school, from elementary to the university.  As discussed in this article, only the Catholic Church and a few Protestant ministers, such as Billy Sunday, railed against Eugenics.  Eugenics is now practically extinct.  The credit for this must go to the Catholic Church and to Protestant preachers as earlier mentioned.  The same is the case today for abortion.  In my Catholic church, you will never hear one word preached about the evil of abortion.  The same holds true for most other Catholic churches, and, for that matter, even Protestant churches.

Joe Biden’s position, which is widely shared among liberal Christians, is an abdication of moral responsibility.  As for Catholics, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Section  2272 says this:

2272 Formal co-operation in an abortion constitutes a grave offence. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. ‘A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae’ (76) ‘by the very commission of the offence’, (77) and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law . (78) The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

As you can see, the language is very clear and strong.  Cooperation with an abortion is a grave offense.  What Joe Biden is saying, then, is cooperation with abortion.  If you vote for an abortion law, how can you escape the responsibility of an abortion?  So what am I saying here?  I’m saying that Christians, and especially Catholics can, if they want to, end abortion.  The Democratic Party would fold if all Catholics would say no more.  Either you end abortion on demand or we will not vote for you.  Watch how fast the Democratic Party would fall in line.  Unfortunately, our churches have been conqured by our culture.  Watch how nervous a priest or pastor gets whenever they’re challenged on why they never discuss the subject.

The Left, the Death Penalty and Euthanasia

Euthanasia has gained favor  in our culture.  In the United States, three states have euthanasia laws, or what they call “death with dignity,”   Oregon, Vermont and Washington.  But wait a minute, I thought the left is against the death penalty, saying it is cruel and unusual punishment; as does this article by the ultra-left wing ACLU. So euthanasia, whereby someone, willingly, takes a lethal drug dose, is called “death with dignity” but a lethal dose given by the state to a murderer is cruel and unusual punishment.  I don’t follow.

In Europe, Belgium and the Netherlands have euthanasia laws whereby a person can choose to end his or her life, simply because they’re depressed and don’t want to continue living. In Belgium twin brothers who were deaf and going blind decided to end their life for no other reason.  In Belgium, the doctor administers the legal dose.  So, again, If one asks to be killed it’s OK, but if the state does it to a brutal murderer it’s cruel and unusual punishment?  I’m lost.

An article in the Weekly Standard issue of October 27, 2014 titled “Cruel and Unusual Death With Dignity” discussed a Belgium case of a convicted murderer/rapist, Frank Van Den Bleeken.  Instead of executing Van Den Bleeken, Belgium decided to help him with euthanasia; by a doctor, and at a hospital.  You see, Van Den Bleeken requested euthanasia to end his “suffering” as a prisoner.  Yes, that is right, to end his suffering caused by prison life.  As the article points out, Belgium opposes capital punishment under any circumstances.

It gets worse for the leftists.  They’re almost unanimously pro-abortion.  So, if someone wants to end his or her life, for basically any reason, euthanasia is “death with dignity.”  On the other hand, if you have a brutal mass murderer, you cannot euthanize him because it’s cruel and unusual punishment.  So a deranged murderer like Charles Manson, who brutally murdered the pregnant Sharon Tate and three other people cannot be euthanized but someone who is depressed with life can be euthanized.  Where is the logic?  There is none.  Leftists have not only lost their souls but they’ve lost their moral compass.  They have no problem with an abortionist ripping apart a perfectly healthy, fully formed, baby in the womb, but anyone can volunteer to be euthanized and they see it as “death with dignity.”

Human Trafficking: Today’s Form of Slavery

Whenever I heard the phrase “human trafficking” I would think of it as something that took place in such places as Sudan, South America or some third world country.  Last night at our Respect Life meeting we had a woman speak to us on the subject of human trafficking.  Oh how wrong I was!  Not only was the hard truth of this subject shocking but enraging.  Hard fact number one: Human trafficking is taking place right in our back yard.  Los Angeles area is one of the top places in the world for human trafficking.  The main reason is money.  Human traffickers make more money in the US than they can anywhere in the world.  We’re not talking about slavery like it was practiced before where a person was captured and transported to the new world and sold to a slave holder to work on the owner’s farm, we’re talking about human trafficking that involves the sex trade. Human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world.  The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimate that there are between 100,000 to 300,000 kids, under the age of 18 being exploited in the United States.

Now I know what you’re thinking, only girls who run away or low-income girls from the ghetto get involved in this trade.  Wrong again.  Hard truth number two:  Although it is true that many young girls who run away or are from the ghetto do get involved in this trade, there are many girls from well to do families who are lured into this trade by the devious tactics of the human trafficker.  Here is how it works.  A young girl is working in a department store, a well dressed, beautiful woman approaches her and compliments her on her beauty and tells her she knows where this young girl can make ten times what she makes working in the department store.  The young girl is suspicious but since this is a refined looking and attractive woman she relents and agrees to talk to her after her shift.  They meet in the parking lot where the woman invites the young girl to take a ride with her.  The young girl has some suspicion but since the woman is driving an expensive Mercedes-Benz car she agrees to go with her.  They go to a private home where the woman introduces her to a young man who flatters hers and promises here some wonderful things.  to make a long story short; the young woman is groomed into the sex trade where she will be closely watched and told that if she does not do what she’s told bad things will happen to her and her family.  Click here for a story that recently appeared on CBS and KCAL TV Los Angeles.   Watch this CNN video documentary on how “the girl next door” is sold into sex slavery. This will change you.  Well worth the 42 minutes of the documentary.

Hard truth number three:  Once they have a young girl in their grip they force her to produce a certain amount, anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000 per night at $50-100 per trick.  If she fails to make these sums she will be severely beaten.  These young girls are so traumatized and intimidated with threats of physical harm to themselves or their families that they do what they’re told by these criminals.
